\nThe tour\u2019s unreliable buses had repeatedly lost heat, leaving the exhausted musicians battling freezing temperatures, illness, and punishing travel between tightly scheduled performances.<\/span><\/p>\n

Waylon Jennings, then playing bass for Holly, originally had a seat aboard the aircraft alongside Holly and guitarist Tommy Allsup.<\/span>
